St Dominic’s Centre for Hearing Impaired Children has received a boost in funding thanks to the support of Beyond Bank Australia’s annual Charity Golf Day held in May.

Beyond Bank Australia, selected St Dominic’s as its 2013 golf day beneficiary after hearing about the school’s ‘Brighter Future’ IT Project. The project will create an environment that encourages students to be independent learners who celebrate their achievements and integrate seamlessly into the wider community.

A field of 116 players, 18 hole sponsors and many generous prizes donated for the day, helped exceed the $15,000 target and the first stages of the ’Brighter Future’ IT Project is already underway.

Hunter-based General Manager of Distribution, Ray O’Brien, said that the customer owned philosophy of our organisation allows us to support the communities in which we operate.

“We recognise the positive role not-for-profit organisations such as schools, local sporting clubs, community groups and charities play in our local community, and supporting these organisations is at the heart of who we are”.

“Developing communication skills is the primary focus of all learning programs at St Dominic’s and through the implementation of up to date technology the ‘Brighter Future’ IT Project will provide a personalised learning program for each student to help achieve their goals and create a more enjoyable learning experience” said Mr O’Brien.

Principal of St Dominic’s, Frances Belcher, said that the days success is attributed to the generous support of Beyond Bank, their staff and the considerable support from sponsors, local businesses and the players on the day.

“All in all the day was a fantastic success and the money raised was a great result for the school.”

Last financial year, we donated more than $1 million dollars back into local charities in South Australia, the Australian Capital Territory, Wagga Wagga, Hunter Region and Western Australia through community initiatives such as fundraising, campaigns, community grants and donations.
