Beyond Bank Celebrates the Stars Of Child Safety

CC Child Safety Awards

WA Fire & Emergency Services Commissioner, Wayne Gregson APM, Matthew Scanlon (Fair Game) and Michelle Coelho, State Manager Beyond Bank Australia

Crown Perth’s Grand Ballroom lit up with the stars of child safety on Saturday night, 10 August 2013 as The Constable Care Child Safety Awards took place to celebrate the achievements of the remarkable Western Australians dedicated to protecting children from harm and creating child-safe environments and communities.

The evening saw over 450 guests, dressed in their gala best, enjoy a three-course dinner and a presentation ceremony hosted by Deborah Kennedy to acknowledge the many and varied stakeholders involved in this vital field of work. Amongst the glitz and glamour was Beyond Bank who, as strong enthusiasts of community programs, is committed to supporting volunteers and the role they play.

Nine Child Safety Award categories were presented during the evening to celebrate the achievements of volunteers, employees, the emergency services, educators and carers, local and state government, community program and corporate partnerships in metropolitan and regional Western Australia.

We sponsored the WA Child Safety Volunteer Award which recognises a Western Australian who, through their voluntary undertakings, has made an exemplary contribution to improving the safety and well-being of children in WA. Matthew Scanlon from Fair Game took out the honours of the award, receiving a Constable Care Child Safety Medal, a framed certificate and a $1,000 gift which he will donate to Fair Game’s Kimberley Road trip in the October school holidays.

As a full-time Health and Phys Ed secondary school teacher at Ashdale Secondary College, Perth, Matt Scanlon also holds the volunteer role of Kimberley Regional Coordinator for Fair Game, a volunteer-based not-for-profit that delivers sport, health and wellness programs with recycled and donated sporting equipment to remote, refugee and underserviced communities in WA. Matt’s work has resulted in the creation of new city and regional outreach programs, multiple tours across the Kimberley, and collaborations with local government, community leaders and groups, remote schools and synergistic organisations such as PCYC and Foodbank.

Beyond Bank has worked closely with Constable Care Child Safety Foundation to create a safer environment for all children across Western Australia and we are proud to support the Child Safety Awards to celebrate the achievements of the remarkable people dedicated to protecting children from harm and creating child-safe environments and communities.

Congratulations to Matthew and all the Child Safety Award winners!
