Travel Trainers – Canberra
Are you confident using buses in Canberra? Share your transport know-how and help an older person learn to get out and about independently using public transport!
Council On The Ageing (COTA) ACT is looking for volunteer Travel Trainers who can provide one-on-one help to an older person who wants to get out more independently, but perhaps lacks confidence, knowledge or skills. You’d need to meet with the person, talk with them about their goals and limitations, help them plan where they want to go and how to get there, and maybe go with them on their first few trips.
Suited to people aged over 25 years who are friendly and have some familiarity with public transport in Canberra.
Volunteers receive 2 hour induction training and reimbursement of fares as necessary.
