Disability Advocate – Beaconsfield WA
Citizen Advocacy is looking for a volunteer to be a companion and advocate for a gentleman with a disability who is living in a community based accommodation.
He is supported by caring staff, but they cannot give him the one to one time he needs. He likes TV and watching live sport, and really enjoys the company of people and eating out. He is a quiet, gentle man who has no family support.
An advocate is needed to give him someone to belong to. He wants to feel part of a family, to be like the other people he lives with. He also needs you to make sure he always gets the services and care that he needs, and that he is treated with dignity and respect at all times.
Patience, persistence and a belief that everybody’s right to a fulfilled life is required.
This role is suited to individuals aged 45 years and over, with the days and times being flexible and negotiable.
