Cessnock SES rewarded by the community
The crew at Cessnock SES are committed to assisting the local community in times of need. Their dedication has recently been rewarded with a $3000 donation from Beyond Bank Australia’s Community Rewards Program.
Over the past 12 months the unit has been going from strength to strength. They recently moved into their new depot at Cessnock Aerodrome and have been busy training the crew of close to 30 volunteers.
The Cessnock SES unit is run entirely by volunteers, some of which also have full-time jobs in the community. But no matter the job or danger, the team is always available to provide assistance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Bill Thompson, Cessnock SES Local Controller, said “the $3,000 donation from Beyond Bank will be used to provide ongoing training for their crew of volunteers and will also assist with the completion of upgrades to the new depot. “
“Training of our crew is vital to the success of our operations. All of the training is undertaken and conducted by our volunteers, so these funds really do make a difference not only during training, but also while they are out assisting the community”, said Mr. Thompson.
Beyond Bank, Senior Relationship Advisor, Mandy Wyborn, said “Cessnock SES are registered as a recipient in our Community Reward Program and thanks to our customers in the Hunter who have nominated the SES through their Community Reward Account, I am proud to say they have received close to $5,500 in support over the last 12 months. “
“The program works off a percentage of the annual average balance of customers who have a Community Reward Account. Beyond Bank calculates the payment and provides the community group nominated with their payment. “
“This allows supporters of community groups to do their everyday banking with us while each financial year Beyond Bank makes a bonus payment to their nominated cause at no cost to our customers,” said Mrs. Wyborn.
