Beyond Bank announces mandatory vaccination.
Beyond Bank has announced it will require its entire workforce to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 from 31 January 2022.
The decision, from one of Australia’s largest customer-owned banks, is believed to be the first from a financial institution in the mutual sector and will include all management and staff across the Bank’s metropolitan and regional network.
It follows several months of consultation with the Bank’s 600 employees around Australia including a significant internal survey which saw very few of those who completed the poll indicating they would not be vaccinated.
The Bank will now work closely with these staff to address their personal concerns about the vaccination process.
It is expected that a significant majority of employees will be fully vaccinated by the 31 January deadline.
“We have a tremendous responsibility to protect the health and wellbeing of our people, our customers and the community, and that has been and will always be our highest priority,” said Mr Robert Keogh, CEO Beyond Bank Australia.
“Throughout the pandemic, they have continued, through some very challenging times, to provide an essential service and their safety has at all times, been of singular importance.
“Now, as we enter a new stage, with fewer restrictions and more movement in local communities, it is vital we ensure they have the appropriate level of protection to give them the peace of mind they need as they continue to provide uninterrupted banking services to all of our customers, wherever they may be.
“For our customers and their families too, we believe this decision will allow them to do their day to day banking with confidence as Australia moves towards the end of pandemic restrictions.”
