What is Voice ID?
Voice ID is a security feature that identifies you by the sound of your voice when you call us—think of it as your voice fingerprint.
Voice ID will provide phone access to our banking services as soon as you have been identified.
When is Voice ID coming?
We’ll be rolling out this new feature starting from next week.
How secure is Voice ID?
Your voice is unique, and it's difficult for someone to replicate your voiceprint. Voice ID verifies your identity by analysing over 100 different voice characteristics. Voice ID is far more than just a basic recording.
Voice ID Frequently Asked Questions.
Voice ID is an authentication technology that uses your voice to verify your identity just by the sound of your voice, allowing fast and secure access to your accounts. When you call us, Voice ID creates a unique digital representation of your voice, allowing you to authenticate your identity. Voice ID keeps your personal information and access to your accounts secure while reducing the need to ask additional authentication questions.
Voice ID is more convenient than traditional methods and effectively protects your identity. It is a voiceprint, like your fingerprint and uses over 100 distinct characteristics that are unique to you. These characteristics cannot be easily copied and are a more secure way of confirming your identity when accessing your accounts. Voice ID has several measures to ensure a system quickly flags a recorded playback or a synthetic voice creation. Voice biometric technology is less susceptible to fraud threats that affect more traditional authentication methods.
Voice ID has sophisticated fraud monitoring detection processes and can detect if someone is trying to authenticate using a recording of your voice. We securely store an encrypted copy of your voiceprint that only works with our system.
There is no action on your part or extra steps you need to take, as no extra time is required! Simply let us know that you want to enrol for Voice ID and continue to talk to our team in your normal voice. We will generate a unique digital representation of your voice called a voiceprint. Once this unique voiceprint is created, Voice ID matches your voice to your voiceprint to ensure it’s you. This will allow you to safely interact with our Customer Relationship Centre by phone, spending less time authenticating and more time focused on why you called.
We know that you have many passwords and PINs to remember. Voice ID is a more secure and convenient way to access your profile when calling us. With Voice ID, you can confirm your identity simply by speaking with a member of our team so that we can help you with your query faster. Voice ID can help us quickly and seamlessly establish who you are without providing the same additional information to authenticate yourself.
A Voice ID is a unique digital representation of your voice made up of more than 100 different identifying characteristics, such as behavioural characteristics, the length of the vocal tract, the shape of the nasal passage, and pitch. Like a fingerprint, these unique characteristics can’t be imitated, providing a simple and secure way to authenticate your identity when you call us.
Voice ID is a faster security option for speaking with us by phone. If you don’t enrol, you will continue to be verified by answering security questions every time you call—even for routine inquiries.
Your unique Voice ID enables a secure and easy-to-use authentication experience. Voice ID is very reliable, but if there’s ever a problem with your Voice ID, we can verify you with your existing authentication questions. We can also assess whether we need to delete the Voice ID on file and create a new one so you’re not inconvenienced again in the future.
Your voiceprint represents over 130 voice characteristics, only a few of which are affected by a cold. A health condition that severely affects your voice, such as laryngitis, will lead to a failed authentication—in this case, we’ll authenticate with other security questions.
There may be instances, like too much noise in the background, when we cannot make a positive verification using Voice ID. In that case, our team will ask security questions to protect you and your accounts.
If you no longer want to use Voice ID, we’ll delete your voiceprint at your request.
