Southcare are looking for volunteers to help with the Commonwealth Community Visitors Scheme. This is a scheme which has volunteers visit older people who still live in their homes and have been identified as being socially isolated.
Often people who have no family or friends living close by and are not able to get out and about, become very lonely. As part of the Federal Government’s Living Longer Living Better aged care packages, volunteers visit people in their homes about once a week for an hour or so and become a friend.
Southcare will match volunteers to clients who have similar interests. If you have an hour free and would like to befriend a lonely person in your area they would love to meet and discuss it with you.
Volunteers must be aged 18 years and over and willing to undergo a National Police Check
