The Beyond Bank Night Ride for MS – 10 April 2015
Since 1973 the Multiple Sclerosis Society of WA (MSWA) has been supporting people with multiple sclerosis, their families and carers by providing professional health-care services.
MS, as it’s commonly known, is a chronic and incurable disease that randomly attacks the central nervous system – the brain and spinal cord. It is the most prevalent neurological disease in Australians of working age and not surprisingly most of us know someone with multiple sclerosis. MS affects three time as many women as it does men and every working day, five Australians are diagnosed with MS. The impact on families, relationships and workplaces is far reaching and the cost of MS in Australia is $2 billion each year.
Beyond Bank has partnered with Multiple Sclerosis Society of WA to assist them with educating the community about the disease and to promote fitness and health with cycling.
The inaugural Beyond Bank Night Ride will be held on Friday night 10th April 2015.
We know that bike riding is a viable and sustainable form of transport and that events such as this are a step in achieving on-going behaviour change in the community.
This inaugural event, held during Bike Week, will be a fun night for both experienced and those new to cycling with the route taking them through unique and different areas. The ride will offer two courses of 40kms and 70kms and commence in Wilson, close to the MSWA offices. As this is a social night ride, participants will average no more than 25km/h as there is the focal need for safety and wellness of the group.
