Recognising Whyalla Locals on Australia Day

Each year Whyalla Council hosts their Australia Day twilight celebrations at the Whyalla Foreshore to acknowledge individuals or groups who have made outstanding contributions to the local community.

We are proud to announce that Beyond Bank is once again the major sponsor of the Whyalla Australia Day Festival and the Australia Day Awards for 2015.

The festival will commence at 3pm with a range of activities for all including a sand castle contest, the official Australia Day award presentation and then a fireworks display to conclude the evening at 9pm.

The Australia Day awards, which include Citizen, Young Citizen and Event of the Year provide recognition for some of the outstanding work of residents in the Whyalla Region and are part of Council’s commitment to strengthening community participation within the city.

In addition there will be a total of six Community Service awards that will recognise residents who give outstanding service to the community, and a Sports Contribution award that will be presented at the festival.

“We are delighted to partner with Whyalla Council again in 2015 to bring the Australia Day Festival to the Whyalla community. Australia Day Celebrations not only remind us about how luck we are to live here, but also brings families together through celebration and national pride” said Beyond Bank General Manager Community Development, Peter Rutter.

”The values embraced by Whyalla Council, in particular the focus on community and highlighting the residents and their amazing achievements, resonated strongly with Beyond Bank.”

“As a customer-owned bank our aim is to build a stronger and more prosperous community and be the chosen bank for community groups, their supporters and their volunteers. We offer a range of banking products specifically for the community sector and we are always looking to partner with like-minded organisations that put community first.” Mr Rutter said.

The team from our Whyalla branch are looking forward to working with council on event preparations and attending the Australia Day event with the community on the 26 January.
