Goldfields Women’s Health Care Centre

For 30 years the Goldfields Women’s Health Care Centre (GWHCC) has provided clinical, educational and support services for women in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia.

The Centre is overseen by the Goldfields Women’s Health Care Association, and as a not for profit organisation, provides these services on the generosity and support of sponsors, donations and fundraising, grants and companies just like Beyond Bank.

Recently Beyond Bank has been working with the GWHCC to help improve its day-to-day processes and systems. By introducing a few simple changes, like consolidating bank accounts and simplifying payment methods with the introduction of EFTPOS and Internet banking, staff now spend less time behind the desk and more time doing what they do best – helping the wonderful women of Kalgoorlie.

Centre Coordinator Gloria Moyle said the changes had also assisted in saving dollars.

We’re now maximising our hard-earned fundraising dollars so more can go back into direct benefits for our community, which is just terrific.

Late last year Beyond Bank was thrilled to hand over a cheque for $1,672.55 to GWHCC; the payment made possible through the Bank’s Community Reward Account program.

A great example of the direct positive impact this program is having to lives across the country, this money has been used to establish a facilitated playgroup for special needs children aged between 0-4 years and their families.

“The reality is, that Kalgoorlie-Boulder can be a very isolating place as many people in our community are living far away from family and friends. So imagine if your child has an ongoing illness or the families are awaiting a diagnosis, it can be very tough,” said Gloria.

“Our new support group provides interaction for the children and parents and an opportunity for them to meet other families who may be facing a similar situation.

“We’re able to provide qualified facilitators so that time can be spent with their children and parents can make new connections and develop a local support network.”

If you would like to see more of this kind of grassroots assistance to an organisation that’s dear to your heart, all you need do is:

  • Step 1: open a Beyond Bank Community Reward Account
  • Step 2: nominate a group that you would like to support
  • Step 3: simply use the account as you normally would, but the more you deposit into it, the bigger the reward for your nominated group.

At the end of the financial year, Beyond Bank calculates 1.25 percent of the average balance held in all Community Reward Accounts assigned to each organisation and donates that amount from Beyond Bank revenues (not from your account).
