The community based initiative of Rotary Clubs partners organisations in our community, throughout Australia, who have an interest in road safety for youth.
Held in Clare on the 1st and 2nd of June 2015 at the Valleys Lifestyle Centre, over 150 Year 11 students participated in the potentially lifesaving course which educates students in the risks of driving and how to be safe on our roads. Schools represented included those from Clare, Riverton, Balaklava and the surrounding district.
There were six interactive sessions to the day long course; topics covered in the program were Hazards and Distractions, Speed and Stopping, After the Crash (the shared experience of a crash survivor), The Personality Test, Rights and Responsibilities and “Genevieve’s Story” (from her parents and friends perspective).
Volunteering on the day were our local branch manager John Morrison and our Community Development Manager John Hunt.
Many success stories have been attributed to students participating in this training program provided by local Rotary Clubs throughout Australia. Congratulations to the Rotary Club of Clare, all community speakers and helpers, and of course all participating students.
