Friends of Daffodil Day – Port Augusta
For the 23rd consecutive year, the Friends of Daffodil Day, Port Augusta will be holding their annual fundraising stall supporting the Cancer Council’s largest fundraising event.
Kaye Copley, a life member of Beyond Bank (and my Mum!) will be working right alongside family and friends to fundraise. They commenced this stall back in 1993 and to date they have raised $164,723. Last year they collected a record amount of $14,826 and their goal is to exceed that amount this year.
With the Cancer Council estimating that 128,000 new cases will be diagnosed in Australia this year, and the number set to rise to 150,000 by 2020, this is their way of helping those in the community currently affected by cancer.
The fundraising efforts by the Friends of Daffodil Day occur during the year, with a stall held at the undercover markets each month culminating with the final stall on Daffodil Day. The Port Augusta community has always been very generous in supporting this worthy cause with monetary donations as well as many items to be sold or raffled.
This year the stall will be outside Woolworths which is located near our current branch in Port Augusta at Wharflands Plaza. Daffodils and other Daffodil Day merchandise will be available for sale as well as other home-made cakes, biscuits, pies, jams and relishes.
Volunteering and supporting a worthy cause is a great way to give back to your local community, Beyond Bank has a volunteering program that encourages staff and customers to get involved by aligning like-minded people with organisations they can support.
On behalf of Beyond Bank, I want to thank Kaye and her team of volunteers for their support over the last twenty three years for the Friends of Daffodil Day, the money they have raised over the years is amazing.
I also want to acknowledge and thank my Mum, it makes me doubly proud of what my Mum and the Friends of Daffodil Day have been able to achieve in their local community. Well done Mum!
