Trails Working Bee Member – Blackwood SA
Do you love the outdoors? Get great satisfaction maintaining and improving walking and shared-use trails in Sturt Gorge!
Friends of Sturt Gorge (FOSG) formed in 1999 and they volunteer their time to support the Department for Environment and Natural Resources in looking after and promoting the Sturt Gorge Recreation Park. We have over 80 members and a busy calendar of events, including weed control and trail maintenance working bees, a monthly meeting, training, walks and more!
They are in need of more volunteers to join our Working Bees maintaining and improving trails in the Park so that all users can enjoy them.
Volunteers’ tasks will include erosion control, benching, trimming of overhanding vegetation, weed control and, occasionally, rock armouring.
Volunteers should be moderately fit in order to navigate uneven ground and slopes and to walk into and out of the Gorge which including river crossings. Volunteers will need to have good sturdy walking boots however; all other tools and safety equipment will be provided.
Volunteers are required 9am – 12noon (8.30 – 11.30 during Daylight Saving Time) on the 2nd and/or 4th Monday of each month.
