ACT Volunteering Expo

ACT volunteering expoHundreds of people engaged with local volunteer organisations at Volunteering ACT’s Volunteering Expo held in Canberra on 23 September 2015.

The Volunteering Expo is proudly supported by Beyond Bank as it gives locals access to information about the many volunteering opportunities that exist in their region.

By meeting with representatives from organisations, it is hoped people can find a volunteer position that suits them and more people will be encouraged to volunteer in the community.

This year’s Expo was very popular with more than 500 people through the doors in only the first few hours. Organisers expected overall visitor numbers to exceed last year’s.

A wide range of volunteer organisations were represented at the Expo and those attending came from across the city and from all age groups.

Beyond Bank believes the Expo is a great event because it generates matches between organisations needing volunteers and people wanting to volunteer, but perhaps not quite knowing how to start.

Expo attendees agreed, providing feedback that they found the event informative and worthwhile.

Organisations with an information stand at the Expo included Pegasus, Communities@Work, Woden Community Services, Lifeline and the Kowalski Brothers.

A real favourite with the crowd was the Beyond Bank lounge where they could take a seat and rest between visits to the many stalls.
