As a Community Visitor you are able to make a difference in the lives of people with a mental illness or disability and improve patient and carer experiences with mental health service and disability accommodation.
The Community Visitor Scheme is seeking volunteers who are passionate about protecting the rights of people with a mental illness or disability and improving the care and treatment provided to them whilst in hospital or living in disability accommodation.
Volunteers do not need any formal qualifications and will receive with 2 full days of training as well as ongoing support and reimbursement for out of pocket expenses.
Locations available for the Community Visitor Scheme are Loxton, Renmark, Berri, Mt Gambier, Pt. Pirie, Pt. Augusta and Whyalla.
Volunteers can do as many or as few visits per month as they wish, with each visit taking 2-3 hours.
