Beyond Bank member receives NSW Volunteer of the Year Award

Beyond Bank are proud to support our local community organisations.

Lake Macquarie Landcare are supporting the conservation of our local regions of Lake Macquarie. Volunteers get involved that are interested in their patch of bush, creek or foreshore. These committed and dedicated volunteers usually form groups that identify with projects that are local to their area. This promotes and encourages the local community to build social capital, develop an awareness of environmental issues and to value their community’s natural assets.

One of Lake Macquarie Landcare’s volunteers, and a Beyond Bank Life member Garry Stewart, has been recognised this month as NSW Volunteer of the Year. Beyond Bank would like to congratulate Garry on his award and to recognise the great work he does in our community. In the photo below, Garry is receiving his award from local member for Swansea, Yasmin Catley. Lake Macquarie Landcare Network & Administration support office Debra Punton wishes to congratulate Garry on his award saying “it is greatly deserved”.

Garry has loved the bush since he was a boy and over the years he developed a deeper connection, before joining Landcare in 2001. Garry says “My Landcare Site is my grocery store, relaxation centre and gym.”
