I have had a number of special memories seeing Mum in the Christmas Pageant when I was growing up. I would always get up at the crack of dawn with her for the big breakfast and preparation for the big morning.
It was always exciting watching Mum getting her makeup done and seeing her in all these different, exciting costumes each year.
I found it very special to be sitting in the crowd and counting down the floats until I saw my Mum – she would always be waving and smiling to all the kids and families and could often pick me out in the crowd.
With only days left to my first Pageant, it’s exciting to know that I will be participating in the Pageant with my mum and colleagues.
I will be on the Alice in Wonderland float which makes it a little more exciting being my first proper time in the Christmas Pageant.
I am very excited to be going in the Christmas Pageant as I I grew up watching mum in the Christmas Pageant and now I will be sharing that special memory with her.
I was in the first Pageant when the Credit Unions became sponsors 20 years ago and I remember being so excited to be part of something so iconic.
I remember watching the Pageant as a kid and thinking how lucky those kids were. Ashleigh wasn’t even born when I went in the first one, but my other three children were so excited and told all their friends, I even had to go to show and tell at school!
My experiences over the years have been amazing – I have been everything from a ghoul to a scary witch and this year I am a Bus Conductor on the Christmas Parade float.
The Pageant has truly become a family tradition. I wouldn’t miss it for the world and having Ashleigh and my other three kids involved really makes it a family event. Every year when I nominate them some get in and some don’t, but this year all of my children are involved – even one of my grandchildren!
I am so grateful to be a part of this wonderful event.
