Gawler Branch Christmas donation drive
Late last year, our team at the Gawler Branch made contact with the local St Vincent de Paul Society in Gawler to assist with supporting families that struggle throughout the festive season with food, gifts, clothes and toiletries. As a branch we wanted to make a difference in our local community and along with St Vincent de Paul Society, restore some hope to those in need and spread our community spirit.
We had a trolley on display in the branch with Christmas decorations and signage asking our members for support in the form of the above donations for a great cause.
Only a day or two after the fundraising started, our local community was devastated by the Pinery Fires. With this being such a close direct hit within our own backyard and many of our members directly affected by the fires, we decided to make the fundraising a joint effort for both the Christmas Hampers and the people affected by the Pinery Fires.
We had lots of support from staff, other branches and our members. It was great to see such community spirit with everyone getting behind these great causes.
St Vincent de Paul Society were very thankful for the donations and expressed how much this will make a difference to so many people in need.
As a team, we are thrilled that we could make a difference within our local community and look forward to doing the same fundraising in December 2016!
