My experience at Openair Cinemas Canberra
I was lucky enough to attend the Beyond Bank sponsored Ben and Jerry’s Openair Cinema in Canberra last week for a showing of ‘Back to the Future’.
This movie was the perfect accompaniment to the experience as it was a little like stepping back in time and attending a drive in – although to be fair, a very gold class drive in. You are outdoors kicking back enjoying the stars and weather, you can bring your loved ones and friends, you can watch and share other’s reaction to the film, and the best part is you can make a real night out of it.
Before the movie started there were families, friends and couples who brought blankets, chairs or hired a seat and had picnics, kids playing, and great food and wine available for those who didn’t want to bring their own.
We had a little bit of rain the night I attended, but don’t let the chance of showers put you off. The crew at the cinema are well prepared and everyone was given rain ponchos just in case.
At different times the Beyond Bank team have their tent set up so make sure you head over and say hi to them and ask for one of their great purple slushies. The slushies are FREE and taste fabulous and are perfect on a hot summer’s night. In fact it’s the best Slushie I have ever tasted!
Beyond Bank staff will be at the cinema Wednesday 3rd February when the new Star Wars film is showing. It sounds like there will be a few fans in costumes for the movie, so watch out there might be Storm Troopers about!
The cinema runs until 21 February, so don’t worry you still have time to get on down to the gardens near the National Library and catch a movie.
If you haven’t been already, I certainly recommend it as a different and fun night out.
