A significant community achievement has been celebrated by Whyalla Aged Care Inc .
Coinciding with its 30 year anniversary, a $6 million, 16 bed memory support unit and corporate kitchen at Yeltana Nursing Home was officially opened in April by Member for Grey, Rowan Ramsey.
Yeltana Chairman Bob Shaw proudly spoke of the positive outcome for the Whyalla community after such a long journey.
“It’s magnificent. We started off with a lot of sketches and thoughts and to see it come to life is just amazing,” said Mr Shaw.
The wing provides extra space for residents, and also allows staff more room to place equipment, for both resident and office needs.
Chief Executive Officer Juanita Walker sincerely thanked everyone involved in the project, from builders, board members, executive, staff, volunteers, residents and family supporters.
Beyond Bank was acknowledged for its Community Reward Account program, which provides Whyalla Aged Care with an annual bonus payment, and more recently the donation of a high capacity letter folding machine.
With staff numbers exceeding 250, resident beds over 150, and 100 plus community volunteers, administration staff are delighted to no longer have to manually attend to the arduous task of continually folding countless numbers of envelopes.
We congratulate Whyalla Aged Care on another significant milestone in its thirty year history of caring for the people of Whyalla and surrounding districts – well done!
