National Families Week – Whyalla
The recent spate of glorious Autumn weather, blue skies and light winds provided perfect conditions for a ‘Party in the Park’ hosted by Centacare Catholic Family Services Country SA.
For those who may not know, Centacare was established in the Port Pirie Diocese in 1995. Their Head Office is now located in Whyalla and they directly employ over 130 people, and provide support services across much of the State, including the Yorke Peninsula and Lower North, Far North, Central Eyre Peninsula and West Coast Regions.
They collaborate extensively with Government and non-government agencies, service provider networks and community groups working with and assisting people throughout much of rural South Australia.
In this instance a free family event was conducted at the McRitchie Reserve at Whyalla Stuart on Thursday afternoon, 19th of May.
The event was to promote the theme ‘Stronger Families, Stronger Communities’, which is very much aligned to our ‘create more good together’ mantra at Beyond Bank Australia.
Centacare Acting Manager Rachael Ellis superbly event managed a group of government and non-government organisations, including our local Beyond Bank team, all working together with a common agenda, Stronger Families, Stronger Communities.
With everything free, the list of attractions included a sausage and kebab sizzle, healthy eating stalls, jumping castles , arts and crafts, face painting, kite flying, sand castle building and fishing competitions, frisbees and ball sports.
Beyond Bank volunteers Kelly Hyslop and Aaron Ledington were kept busy engaging all ages with the handball challenge and mini golf and regular visits to the park by the Centacare Care Bears was a highlight for all!
