One of Leeton and the Riverina’s biggest fishing events is coming up in March. Leeton Bidgee Classic has developed over the years into a wonderful event for the whole family.
The catch and release competition will be held this year over the weekend of 10-12th March at Golgeldrie Weir . It has been established to assist in the Murrumbidgee ecosystem by restocking the river and catchments with native fingerlings enabling anglers and novices like Alison Egan and her family to continue to enjoy the Murrumbidgee River system.
There are prizes to be given away over the whole weekend with various categories of competitions. While the keen fishermen are vying to “Catch the Big One” there will also be entertainment for the rest of us with the Beyond Bank Kids Entertainment Arena, fishing exhibits, casting competitions, food and entertainment all weekend.
Alison didn’t know one end of a fish to the other until she volunteered her administration and event organisational skills to the Leeton Bidgee Classic committee. She is now “addicted to fishing”.
Why don’t you come and see what the fuss is about and join a great bunch of enthusiasts and novices for a weekend of fun. Who knows you too might find yourself a new hobby or you might even “Catch the Big One”?
