Orange Sky first birthday celebration
Today was a really special day for Beyond Bank. About this time one year ago we formed a partnership that changed lives. It changed our lives and it changed the lives of our homeless friends in Canberra.
Orange Sky Laundry (OSL) is the world’s first mobile laundry service for the homeless and our very own Canberra truck “Dasher” officially turned one in April. Today we celebrated this important achievement with our fellow Orange Sky Laundry supporters at St Johns Care in Reid, who generously put on a monthly 3 course lunch for our homeless friends.
Minister Rachel Stephen-Smith gave her congratulations to Orange Sky Laundry and highlighted the importance of such a service. Noreen Vu, Service Manager for OSL, talked about her personal experience with Orange Sky Laundry and how she greatly enjoys her interactions with the friends of OSL.
On a personal level, I was so thrilled to be at the celebration today. Not just for the cake (though it was REALLY good), not just for the warm friendship of the volunteers at St John Care and the friends of Orange Sky Laundry, but thrilled to see how much can be accomplished when businesses and community organisations join forces. With their combined attributes there is no end to how much good can be done to benefit all in the community.
I know that the staff at Beyond Bank are so proud to be in partnership with such a fantastic community initiative and our intention is to keep looking for more ways to provide support to those in our local community.
