Mel goes beyond for Cystic Fibrosis

Beyond Bank has some excellent community partners and we have developed some fantastic friendships over the years and across Australia.

Every so often, we get to hear about extraordinary achievements and we love to share these special moments and people with you.

Melissa Haynes is 28, an elite runner and has cystic fibrosis. Despite this chronic illness which has seen her spend much of her childhood and teenage years in hospital, Melissa starts each day with a smile and positive attitude.

In November, she is aiming to create her own bit of history, becoming the first Australian woman with cystic fibrosis to tackle the gruelling New York marathon.

As we know, a marathon is hard at the best of times but to compete with a disease like cystic fibrosis is simply incredible.

Mel, from everyone at Beyond Bank, we wish you well in your training and can’t wait to see photos of you at the finish line in November.

I am extremely overwhelmed by the generosity and support shown from Shane and Beyond Bank. Their generous donation has helped me achieve my dream to run the NY Marathon and raise much need funds to find a cure for CF. I cannot thank Beyond Bank enough. This has helped cover the heavy cost involved and kickstarted my fundraising efforts. Beyond Bank have contributed to finding a cure for Cystic Fibrosis, so thank you again not only from myself but on behalf of the other 3,000 people living with CF in Australia. Melly Haynes
