It’s amazing how a small gesture can have such a big impact on the lives of others.
Bridie from our Canberra branch has been giving up her Wednesday evenings to volunteer at Ronald McDonald House at the Centenary Hospital for Women and Children and has been touched at what a difference her weekly commitment has made to families in need of a comfortable space to relax and unwind.
Bridie says volunteers ensure the centre is open from 5.30pm to 9pm giving parents, brothers and sisters access to a homely space and a warm, friendly smile – often when they need it the most.
Joining a Rotary group earlier this year has also increased her awareness of the hurdles many people go through.
“It makes me very grateful for what I have and reiterates why we all need to contribute towards our community plus it is wonderful to be surrounded by people from different walks of life, with so much life experience.”
