Domestic violence is one of the biggest issues facing local communities and Beyond Bank is pleased and proud to support frontline agencies that are working to support families in crisis.

Recently, one of our community partners, the Wagga Women’s Health Centre, joined in the global campaign,16 Days of Activism Against Violence Against Women”, to raise awareness about the impact violence has on a woman’s physical, psychological, social and spiritual well-being.

Coinciding with White Ribbon Day on 25 November, the Centre hosted a commemoration ceremony to pay respect to those women who have lost their lives to domestic violence.

During the ceremony, local Wagga community leaders tied white ribbons with the names of each woman to the rail outside the Centre before observing a minute’s silence.

Through advocacy, community education and social action, the Centre is working hard to break down stereotypes that exist around domestic violence and sexual assault and staff regularly conduct talks on women’s health, including support for adult survivors of child sexual assault and domestic violence.

As a long-standing partner, Beyond Bank provides support for the day-to-day running of the Centre.

“We have benefited from participating in the Bank’s Community Reward Program and to date have received over $30,000 in bonus payments,” said Helen Mundy, past President, Wagga Women’s Health Centre.

“Over the years we have also been aided by the professionalism and expertise of the Beyond Bank team in Wagga which has continued to provide us with guidance and advice, understanding the requirements of not- for-profit organisations and the restrictions we face.”
