Why corporate giving is important.

Why do we have a commitment to corporate giving? It’s because community is in our DNA – it’s that simple.

We’re part of your local community, and we see its successes, opportunities and challenges. Plus, we’re committed to achieving our purpose through building stronger, more connected communities.

We established the Beyond Bank Foundation in 2007. It was formed to help us to give back to the community and focus on some of the greatest challenges facing society; currently housing, aged support, financial wellbeing and disability support.

Since then, we’ve contributed more than $25 million to programs and community groups across a range of causes.

Over the last financial year, the Foundation contributed to 19 initiatives across Australia, plus we launched appeals for natural disasters in NSW, SA and WA.

We believe we are stronger together, and that's why we support our staff to volunteer for causes they feel passionate about.

Our staff are at the heart of everything we do, so it is important to us that they have the opportunity to connect with organisations that are meaningful to them.

From the very beginning, over 60 years ago, our business was built on the principles of cooperation, fairness, equity, democracy, social responsibility and caring for others.

A circle of mutual prosperity flows through our communities and is supported by our work in the not-for-profit sector and how we give back to help those in need. If our customers and communities are doing well, then our business does well too. It is how our bank, customers and community support each other to thrive.

Our local business model helps us to understand the challenges of the regions that we operate in and provides us with an opportunity to work on issues that are most relevant in those communities.

We’ve worked with national disability providers to open doors for accessible banking, raised awareness of the issues faced by people with complex disabilities, supported older Australians to help reduce isolation and provide social interaction, established partnerships to help with housing affordability and the shortage of appropriate rental properties and helped a range of organisations and causes who urgently needed a boost due to effects of COVID-19.

Sometimes the challenges feel enormous. We can turn away or we can turn towards. We believe we have an important role to place in creating a positive impact.
