Managing Money

Prepare for your next trip with travel insurance.

Insurance plays a vital role in protecting your financial wellbeing and providing peace of mind by helping you manage risks. There are different types of insurance to help manage different types of risk.

At Beyond Bank, we want to help our customers make informed decisions about general insurance products.

This guide will help you understand travel insurance.

What is travel insurance?

Travel insurance covers unexpected events that can occur while traveling, such as trip cancellations, lost luggage, medical emergencies, and travel delays.

Why it's important.

Travelling comes with risks, especially when going abroad. The cost of getting medical treatment while travelling overseas can be enormous. Travel insurance helps cover the costs of emergencies and other financial losses during your trip.

Things to consider.

Cover for medical treatment is one of the main benefits of travel insurance, but there may be other options to consider. For example, some countries have reciprocal health care agreements that provide emergency care for Australian residents. You’ll find details on the Services Australia website.  You may also have cover provided by a credit card you use to pay for your travel. It’s worth considering separate travel insurance for the other benefits they offer. In any case, check for coverage exclusions for things like pre-existing conditions, cover for high-risk activities and pandemics and epidemics, limits and caps and the reputation of the insurer.

We’re here to help.

If you’re planning to travel, consider Beyond Bank Travel Insurance to provide cover for minor things like a delayed suitcase*, or significant things like an unexpected trip cancellation* or an overseas medical emergency*.
