Highlights of our community journey
Our focus hasn’t changed.
We have contributed $8 million to our local communities though community programs, grants, community sponsorships and donations. You can contribute to local community initiatives by simply donating to the Beyond Bank Foundation.
We continue to deepen our commitment to supporting your local communities through our community partnerships. By supporting not-for-profit organisations that make a difference, we are helping to strengthen families and communities.
We create true community partnerships. This means everyone wins – the community, our customers and staff, and our families.
- Community Banking Packages
We improved our community banking services by the introduction of new Community Employee Banking and Community Volunteer Banking packages.
These offers were developed to recognise the important role that community employees and volunteers play in our communities.
- Community Volunteers
In 2011, we introduced Community Volunteers in partnership with Volunteering SA & NT, Volunteer ACT, Volunteering WA and the Hunter Volunteer Centre. Our volunteer program matches suitable applicants to volunteer opportunities in a wide range of community organisations and registered charities.
- Environmental Management System
In 2008, we introduced the Environmental Management System program. The program aims to develop a culture of environmental sustainability in our workplace.
We also partnered with Greening Australia, a national environmental not-for-profit organisation. Greening Australia aims to increase the quantity and quality of native habitat, and restore ecological systems.
We also became a member of the United Nations Environmental Program Finance Initiative (UNEP FI). Through the UNEP FI we have also learnt about the latest trends in sustainable business practices from other Australian and multinational financial institutions.
- Beyond Bank Foundation
In 2007, we established the Beyond Bank Foundation. The Foundation provides financial grants to a wide range of community organisations. We focus on supporting not-for-profit organisations that work in health, education and the environment.
You can contribute to local community initiatives by simply donating to the Beyond Bank Foundation.
The Foundation has assisted charities such as the Royal District Nursing Services (SA) and The Newborn Intensive Care Foundation (ACT), and provided funding support for Variety, Constable Care WA, Riding for the Disabled (Wagga), Boundless Canberra, Greening Australia and many others.
- Advocacy Program
We launched our Advocacy Program in 2006. Through the Advocacy Program we donate $20 to charity for every new customer who joins through the advocacy of an existing member. We have since donated more than $80,000 to great causes including St John’s Ambulance and Camp Quality.
- Community Leave Days
We started offering Community Leave Days in 2006. Every year, our staff get two paid days to volunteer in their local community. Our staff have volunteered over 1,000 hours per year.
- Workplace Giving
In 2006, we introduced a Workplace Giving program so our staff can donate to charities via a payroll deduction.
