You can’t help getting older but you don’t have to get old. That line came from legendary American comedian George Burns who clearly practiced what he preached, living well and even working until he died at the age of 100.
Most of us probably won’t make it to a century but there are some excellent lessons here on how to live well, stay engaged and active as we move into our senior years.
At Beyond Bank, we are keen to support in as many ways as we can, the local groups and providers who are making a positive difference to the lives of older Australians.
Positive differences like ensuring they keep connected with friends, enjoying positive social interaction to make sure they don’t feel isolated or alone. Making sure there are opportunities for fitness and exercise, staying tech-savvy, safe, comfortable and remaining engaged in all that life has to offer.
Maroba Caring Communities in Waratah, New South Wales is really setting the bar high when it comes to this and it’s why we, through our Beyond Bank Foundation, are delighted to announce that we have partnered with them to support its excellent range of world-class programs.
The focus of our partnership is on Maroba’s “Wellbeing and Empowerment” program which brings residents together with activities like art classes, gardening, gym sessions and visits to local schools.
And the best bit of this program is your skill level or ability is irrelevant! It’s about joining in, having a laugh, sharing a conversation and making friends.
Sounds like some lessons right there for younger generations.
