We’re local and serving communities in rural areas

B Corp businesses are doing business better by benefiting all stakeholders – their customers, workers, communities and the environment.

Being customer-owned we put our customers first and support the local communities that we live and work in.

We operate across Australia in both metropolitan and rural locations. In fact, around 46% of our branches are in rural areas outside our capital cities helping to provide essential banking services to communities in need.

In places such as Coolamon and Ganmain in the Riverina in New South Wales we are the only bank remaining with a branch serving the local community.

As part of our B Corp impact assessment, we are required to consider how our organisation serves customers in-need, which includes those living in rural areas. Around 30% of our lending is to customers in our rural communities supporting them to achieve their financial goals.

In our rural communities such as Port Augusta, Leeton, Gunnedah or Sale we play an important role in the local community beyond just banking. Whether it be volunteering, partnering with local community organisations or sponsoring the local footy or netball team we are a part of the community that we serve, helping to give back.

We also assist other in-need communities such as the not-for-profit sector by partnering with over 5,000 community organisations to provide banking services, salary packaging and other benefits.

We also serve for-purpose businesses including fellow B Corps across Australia providing them with fee free banking and helping to use our platform to amplify their impact and the great work they do to support their local economy.

We are for and with the community. That’s what it means for us to be a B Corp. We believe we are stronger when we are together, sharing our success, opportunities and challenges. As a customer-owned bank, we are committed to changing lives through building stronger relationships and more connected communities.
